About The Program
The Third Ward encompasses the southeastern portion of Grand Rapids and has historically experienced under-investment in both the private and public sector. Through the City of Grand Rapid’s Participatory Budget process, Third Ward residents voted to allocate $500,000 to lead education and address water service line concerns. This will include the distribution of lead-reducing water filters and educational materials that inform about lead exposure in older homes.
This initiative is in partnership with Healthy Homes Coalition of West Michigan and the City of Grand Rapids Water Systems. Healthy Homes Coalition of West Michigan and the city have worked closely to configure water kits and educational materials to be distributed in the Third Ward of Grand Rapids.
