The Healthy Homes Ready by Five Program provides educational, prevention, and intervention services to families of Kent County with expectant parents and children through age five (5) in the home.
What is a Home Environmental Hazard?
It is a substance, state, or event which has the potential to threaten the health of the people living in the home.
Types of home environmental hazards:
- Lead
- Smoke
- Radon
- Carbon monoxide
- Household chemicals
- Loose carpet/floorboards
- Pet dander
- Mold and more
Families that have concerns about lead poisoning, asthma triggers, and accidental hazards in their home can request a FREE screening. Eligible families will receive supplies and resources through case management services.
The Healthy Homes Ready by Five Program uses its exclusive NIDO SCREENING APP to provide a FREE screening to assess the potential environmental hazards in the home.

The Ready by Five Early Childhood Millage provides dedicated and sustainable funding for programs that improve the health, school readiness, and well-being of children under age five. It allows more children and families from across the community to participate in programs that are proven to increase their likelihood of success in school and beyond.
